Ocean forecasting

OceanPrediction DCC collaborates with the global community to progress "towards a predicted Ocean," which is a key goal of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission's Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030).

Our motto is “Connecting the world around Ocean Prediction”. We understand Ocean Forecasting as a focal point to foster intercultural dialogue to achieve the ocean we want. With this in mind, OceanPrediction DCC relies on 9 Regional Teams formed by a broad range of individuals, belonging both to public and private sectors, covering different topics and interests, from science to applications, coastal to open ocean, biological to physical services, etc.

We are working in close collaboration with the Decade Programmes and other relevant stakeholders to build a new technical scenario for Ocean Forecasting. This will allow our community to deliver as one, taking benefit of the digital twining concept, that will permit simpler, modular, and more robust development of the systems in the future.
